Department of Horticultural science, the first department of the faculty of agriculture of Persian Gulf University, was established in 1995 and at the present time, in addition to undergraduate activities in horticultural science, for having the most master's degree orientations in Persian Gulf University, including "Fruit trees", "Vegetables" and "Ornamental plants", it educates the most graduate students in these three orientations. The department with farms, orchards, greenhouses and equipped laboratories has provided a suitable space for education and research for horticultural science seekers and entrepreneurs.

Goals of the Department of Horticultural Science and Engineering

  • Education and upgrading level of entrepreneurship and job creation for seekers of this field of agricultural science
  • Novel strategies of education and research in horticultural science in the line of upgrading agriculture such as intelligent orchards and greenhouses, reducing water usage by hydroponic cultures, production of healthy and organic crops, biotechnology and plant tissue culture
  • Changing and modifying the cultivation pattern with respect to the scientific educational programs for development of horticultural crops productions

Perspective of Department of Horticultural Science and Engineering

  • Upgrading the scientific level of agriculture in the region
  • Becoming a scientific and entrepreneurial hub of agriculture such as production of tissue culture plants, hydroponic cultivation, greenhouse crops and diversity and improvement of horticultural plants under conditions of environmental stresses

Strategic areas

All strategic goals of horticultural science and engineering are for empowering and improving the scientific level of graduates and farmers according to new findings and achievements in the direction of entrepreneurship and employment.

  • Utilizing the production of tissue culture plants
